This concert featured instrumental music played by several groups and individual musicians: Tantsova Grupa, directed by flutist Janet Epstein, is an ensemble specializing in folkdance music of Eastern Europe. Accordion player Nermin Begovic interpreted music from his native Bosnia as well as Bulgaria. Paraguay’s strong harp tradition was represented by Lisa Patterson on her Paraguayan harp. Duo Sudeste, formed by classical guitarists Robert Thompson and Joey Butler, played music from Brazil and Argentina. “Choro,” a musical style that originated in 19th-century Rio de Janeiro was presented by Choro Nashville, directed by Chris Moran. Pierre Gergis, a young Egyptian musician, will play Middle Eastern music on keyboard. And Serenatta Romantic Latin Ensemble, directed by Pablo Garzon, performed music from Colombia, Pablo’s native country.
